Kibble Farm School
The Kibble Institute or Farm School in Paisley, near Glasgow, Scotland, supplied approximately 10% of the boys who participated in the farm apprenticeship scheme.
It is still in operation today but is now known as the Kibble Education and Care Centre. 2009 marked the 150th anniversary of the admission of Kibble's first pupil.

Kibble values its long history of working with youth at risk and has launched an excellent website that includes a section on child migration:

The 17 farm apprentices (see below) who attended Kibble featured as case studies in my thesis. The boys emigrated to South Australia at the end of their sentence, aged 18-19. Fortunately most of the records relating to their admission and discharge still exist in Kibble's archives, giving us an insight into these apprentices' backgrounds.
It is understood that Kibble initially became aware of the South Australian scheme because there was a boy scout troop based at the school. At the time the school was already assisting its pupils to emigrate to farms in other Australian states and Canada.
