The Exhibition Building

The boys who arrived on the SS Beltana, Irishman and Orsova were accommodated at the Exhibition Building on North Terrace overnight after their arrival in Adelaide, before they were dispersed to farms across the state. Photographs were taken of each group.

It is believed that this photo shows the boys from the Irishman on the Jubilee Oval.  The Exhibition Building and School of Mines (now part of the University of South Australia) can be seen in the background.

The University of Adelaide is undertaking a project to upgrade the only remaining feature of the Exhibition Building - the Exhibition Steps - which lie between the Napier and Engineering South buildings.
